I hate to interrupt my blog break once again, but this one is too easy. Here is a link to my friend’s blog… a friend who happens to be our family photographer as well. Scroll down until you find the super sweet pictures of our girls!
Back from Blog Break
23 AprPlease excuse my blog break. Between Reece’s long recovery from her tonsillectomy and two out of town trips, I’m finding it hard to balance my two small children, laundry, work outs, meals, cleaning, sewing, and the list goes on. I sit down tonight not really knowing what to write about, just knowing that I need to write something so my fans (all two of you) will be pleased!
I’ll just scroll through some pictures and put some up…that’s always a crowd-pleaser, isn’t it?
- This is Rynn’s new thing. Isn’t she CUTE?!
- While in Fredericksburg, we met up with the Murphrees and Reece and Ella got to catch up a bit.
- They really enjoyed each other!!
- Reecer picking flowers at Wildseed Farms
- A field of poppies. Sidenote: my Granny sat down one day and designated a flower for each of her granddaughters. I’m her poppy. I’m not sure why she chose the poppy for me (I’m sure she somehow tied in our personalities and features when thinking of our flowers), but the poppy has some sentimental value to me now and I’ve come to love it.
- Rynner worn out in Fredericksburg
- I think this may be my new favorite picture!
- Easter Sunday at Gruene Hall
- Reece said over and over, “Where dit go?” as she hunted eggs.
Coming soon: Reeceisms…posts devoted to the silly things that come out of our two-year-old’s mouth!
3 Months, Lipstick Mustache, Old Toy
31 JanRynn is three months old! She’s so wonderful…just a smiley, happy baby who fits right in. We can’t imagine what our family was like without her!

Reece got into some lipstick this week…

Reece says, “I sure did miss this toy. I’m so glad my mom brought it back out.”

Update & Challenge, Tummy Time, and Birthday Wishes
17 JanUpdate on my nephew, Philip:
For those of you who have been praying for my nephew, thank you! He’s actually doing quite well. He takes the shots and finger pricks like a champ! I think it’s Momma who is feeling most of the stress of his diagnosis at this time. From the carb counting and revised method of cooking, to sending her son to school and trusting all of his teachers, the school nurse, etc., plus just finding a “new normal” in the midst of the worry she has over her son’s health…it’s just really hard! Good thing she’s a godly woman who puts her faith in God and trusts that He knows what is best for their family. Please continue praying for them!
Challenge:
Philip will be the big 1-0 on Monday! When I asked him what he’d like for his birthday, he said he just wants people to donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help find a cure for juvenile diabetes. I thought it’d be fun to put forth a challenge to anyone who reads this blog. So………..
If YOU have diabetes, I’m asking you to donate $50 to help find a cure.
If someone in your FAMILY has diabetes, I’m asking you to donate $30.
If you have a FRIEND with diabetes, I’m asking you to donate $20
Or, if you just want to donate just ’cause, please follow this link to do so…

Philip has also started a blog to journal his life with diabetes:
Nathanael has started a blog too. Check out this awesome writer at…

Happy 29th Birthday to Scott! We celebrated with several friends and crazy amounts of fun at a local dueling piano bar. Good times!
Prayer Request, Christmas, and Another Month Older
30 DecFirst off, please pray for my nearly 10-year-old nephew. After showing some signs of diabetes, a doctor visit this morning confirmed that. He’s now in the hospital where they’ll monitor his blood sugar for a couple of days and begin the maintenance procedure. We know he’ll be okay and that he’ll still be the super-active Philip we know and love, but the transition to daily insulin injections and finger-pricks will definitely be tough, as you can imagine.
Christmas…the most MAGICAL time of year!!
What a difference a year makes! Reece really enjoyed Christmas this year and everything leading up to it. She especially enjoyed wagon rides looking at Christmas lights, the fun blow up figures in neighbors’ yards, Christmas trees (including the one in her room which she was VERY proud of), wrapping paper, parties and PJ Day at PDO, and the building and decorating of the gingerbread house. Because my hands are always full and my brain is always overloaded, I only captured a couple of these memories on the cam…

Reece saw me wrapping a book for the neighborhood kids' book exchange. When we got back home, she thought she should wrap it back up (and in the process wrap herself up too!).

On Christmas Eve we stayed in our pj's and decorated our gingerbread house. Of course, we snacked a little too!
Finished product.
It would make sense, of course, to take some pictures on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, but that didn’t happen. Actually, we did take a few pictures Christmas morning, but Reece was always moving to fast to get any good ones. We were also rushing Reece between each gift so we could get as much video as we could before the battery on the camcorder died. Ill-prepared? Maybe, but I like to think we’re always too busy having fun to take pictures and good video anyway.
I bet I can get some good pics of Reece playing with all those toys she got…just give me a few days!
We had a wonderful Christmas with our families who continue to bless us with way too much! We were also so blessed to have my grandmother for another Christmas, and to visit with Con-Con! And just for the record, when asked whose birthday it was, Reece replied, “Baby Jesus.” Awww!
We celebrated another birthday two days later…
…when Rynn turned two months old! At two months, she’s smiling and cooing. She loves her swing, her car seat, and her big sister who always wants to hold her. She is just a sweet, sweet baby and she’s so much a part of our family that I don’t know what we did without her. Sweet thing is so patient too, as big sister often gets way more attention. Baby girl waits to nurse until Mama gets big sister settled with a snack, drink, and some form of entertainment. Sometimes those feedings get interrupted while Mama fixes things for Big Sister or has to discipline her. In fact, Big Sister seems to cry more these days than Baby girl…what’s up with that!? Anyway, back to Rynn…what a sweetheart…

Baby Girl at two months

Reece still LOVES her baby sister. I often find her sitting here, just watching Rynn and talking to her.
Oh, and one more thing…it was Christmas-time ten years ago that Scott and I met and fell in love. Actually, we just met then. It took a while for the love thing to happen. Happy ten year anni, Scott…did you remember?
Thanksgiving Blessings
3 DecThanksgiving this year brought with it several blessings. The biggest blessing for our family was being together…all 13 of us. Although each of us here in Texas make trips to see those in Indiana, and those in Indiana take trips (in shifts) to see us here in Texas, we haven’t all been together since Thanksgiving 3 years ago! We’ve added three kids to the mix since that time. Here we all are:
Reece LOVED hanging out with her cousins. She and Anna E had slumber parties several nights of the week.
Everyone loved on Rynn.
Polar Express was lots of fun. We went with Aunt KK’s sister, Kayli, and her two precious kids, Noah and McKenzie. (By the end of the night Reece had all the fun she could handle).

On Thanksgiving Day, Rynn turned 1 month old!!!
She shared that special day with her Uncle Way-Way who turned 32 years old.
We’re so thankful for our family!
The Week in Pictures
8 NovIt’s been a week and a couple of days since we brought Rynn home from the hospital, and we haven’t slowed down much at all…our days have been full of sister bonding, Halloween dress-up, lots of diaper changing (between two kids in diapers, the bucket fills up pretty fast!), some drama here and there (big sis), and much, much more. Overall, the adjustment has been relatively easy. Most importantly, Reece LOVES her little sis!
